I never really used fishing for anything else apart from catching trout. And never really thought about it having any health or mental benefits. Not even sure if I even cared about the benefits.
I would say it was summer 2017 after the loss of our child. Than the penny dropped. I was dealing with getting my life back on track, didn’t really want to do much especially fishing.
I found when I went out fishing that I started thinking about everything that had happened and was able to process things a little easier.
Fishing then turned into something completely different for me. I was able to unpick my head while being surrounded by nature. The sound of water on the shore and the birds singing all around is a fantastic way to relax.
I found peace fishing. I could cut out all the noise of life and just relax. The other benefit was I no longer was going out fishing to catch fish, I was enjoying just being outdoors in nature.
It’s now a way for me to escape the stress of life for a few hours and there is no better way then being outside doing something that you enjoy.
