The Candyfloss Booby is a modern stillwater essential. It’s bright, it’s lively, and it’s deadly. Whether you’re pulling it deep or suspending it high, it’s a fly that earns its place in the box. Its one I tend to fish quite a bit.
Pattern Details
The Candyfloss Booby is a vivid, buoyant lure style fly that uses fluorescent candyfloss marabou for both its tail and wing, giving it a soft, pulsing movement in the water. The body is built from UTC Opal Mirage tinsel, which creates a shimmering, colour-shifting effect as the fly moves. At the front, yellow foam booby eyes provide lift, allowing the fly to fish high in the water or suspend attractively above a sinking line.
The overall look is flashy, fluffy, and highly visible, making it ideal for provoking reaction takes from trout in stillwaters. The marabou fibres create a breathing motion, while the opal tinsel adds sparkle that trout can see from distance.
